Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) www.pcusa.org

Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in Gods sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  2 Peter 2:4-5 (NRSV)

WHO WE ARE

Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church is a committed church family of Christians who seek to

  • do God's will
  • walk the paths of our individual and corporate journeys through which God guides us
  • live our faith in God as best we can knowing each of us is a sinner and a seeker
  • follow God's commandments
  • learn more about how God expects us to live our lives through prayer, Bible study, worship, service, commitment, and by allowing and asking God to work through us to share His abundant love, grace, peace, and mercy with those in the church family, community, and world God has so graciously given us

We hope that throughout the pages of this website you will be able to learn more about the work God is doing at Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church through His children who have for many years and do now worship him at the "Old Stone" church located on a timber ridge near Lexington, VA. You will find in these pages some of the history, present, and future of this church. Reflecting on the long history of this church and the experiences we have had and are currently having we can see how God cares for us, supports us with His mighty strength and love, and provides avenues of growth for each of His children though challenging and joyous times and experiences.

This green color woven through this website is a visual representation of the growth that God brings to each of his children and which is so prevalent in the natural beauty of God's world. When you walk in the doors of the sanctuary at Timber Ridge you will be greeted with the greens and earth tones As the pictures of the church below show the cold and the warm on timber ridge so we know God is with us through every day through the cold and the warm times, through the difficult and the joyous experiences, and through the grief and celebrations that we share with one another. God grows us through each experience.

The stone foundation of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church symbolizes the firm foundation we have in God. As our ancestors toiled in building the physical building they also set in place with God's help a foundation of learning and growing in faith in God that has been passed from generation to generation. Those stones are very old and could be thought of as cold dead stones, but as God tells us in the Bible scripture passage at the top of this page we are to seek to be living stones giving of ourselves and sharing our faith in God with those with whom we walk this earthly journey wherever that might be in our daily lives.

Our bulletin cover has long had the words that represent the thoughts of the people who worship in God's church on the timber ridge "Enter to Worship, Leave to Serve". Sometimes we fail as every human does, but we hope that our lives can help spread the green growth of faith in God as we worship with one another and follow God's desire for us to serve Him and our fellow humans.

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.  2 Peter 3:18 (NRSV)

You can find more information about the community in which we live in the Community folder of our website.
