TRPC has supported the Rockbridge area Weekday Religious Education through monetary contributions from its annual budget, members serving on the board and providing leadership and labor for construction and renovation of both the Fairfield and Mountain View facilities. TRPC feels that WRE is vital to the mission of spreading the Word by reaching children who do participate regularly in a church of their choice. Various members have served on the board and helped provide manpower for the original placement of the WRE trailers in1968 and for the current buildings which sit on properly near the Fairfield and Mountain View schools. These projects were done with funds and manpower form civic groups, individuals, and churches. The schools in our area are Mountain View, Fairfield and Effinger. We participate in the Upper Rockbridge Weekday Religious Education. Bible instruction is provided once a week for grades K-5. WRE has paid teachers and walkers. The walkers lead the children back and forth to the school building. The classrooms are located off of school property. WRE has fund raisers each year but depends on donations from churches and others in the area. WRE is looking for new members who would like to help. This program is outstanding and has approximately 98% participation in the schools. This is the only time that many of these children ever hear about Jesus.
