| Finally, brothers and sisters, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus that, as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, you should do so more and more; to aspire to live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we directed you, so that you may behave properly towards outsiders and be dependent on no one. 1 Thessalonians 4:1,11-12 (NRSV) SOUP LUNCH & CONGREGATIONAL MEETING Early each year we have a soup and bread luncheon and congregational meeting. The soup and bread luncheon is to remind us of the simplicity with which we can live life, God's providence, and the folks who live in hunger around the world. The congregational meeting is to hear reports from committees as we assess the old year and prepare for God's work each new year.
