| Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son. Acts 20:28 (NRSV) SHEPHERDING PROGRAM A Shepherding Program was begun in March of 2002. In this program, each elder serves as a “shepherd” to 6 – 10 members of his/her flock. Session members keep in regular contact with their flock. The shepherds visit members of their flock and nurture them in their spiritual growth as well as offer comfort and support in times of trouble and distress. The shepherds also carry joys and concerns from their flock to the Session and congregation when appropriate. In addition, the shepherds sometimes contact their members for input on upcoming Session decisions and business. |
