VVVVV | It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:26-28 (NRSV) MEXICAN MISSION TRIPS Nine members representing a cross-section of the congregation and the minister traveled to Juarez, Mexico, in March 2003 to work with the Border Ministry, Paso de Fe. The group built rooms in a center for battered women, conducted a Bible school for young children, visited an orphanage and a refugee center for Mexican native Indians who had come to the city to sell their crafts to support their homeland. In addition, the minister participated in street ministry to drug addicts along with a young Mexican man who had been an addict, but was now studying to be a minister. The church continues to support this community by financially sponsoring the work leader on the construction project in his studies to become a minister. Additionally, 8 members of Timber Ridge traveled to Baja, Mexico, in July 2005 to work with other members of Shenandoah Presbytery in building a one-room school for Oaxacan indian children.
