I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.  John 15:11 (NRSV)

JOY BOOK

MY JOY BOOK

Each day I’ll take a little time to record

Some of the joys that come from the Lord.

When I look back in this book I’ll be sure to see

How very much God loves and cares for me.

  • Psalm 68:3  Let the godly rejoice.  Let them be glad in God’s presence.  Let them be filled with joy.

  • Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it.

  • Luke 1:47  How I rejoice in God my Savior.

  • Romans 5:3-4 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us – they help us learn to endure.  And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation.

  • Philippians 4:4 Always be full of joy in the Lord.  I say it again – rejoice!

  • John 5:17 But consider the joy of those corrected by God!  Do not despise the chastening of the Almighty when you sin.

  • Job 33:26 When he prays to God, he will be accepted.  And God will receive him with joy and restore him to good standing.

  • Psalm 30:6 Weeping may go on all night but joy comes with the morning.

  • Psalm 95:1-2 Come let us sing to the Lord!  Let us give a joyous shout to the rock of our salvation!  Let us come before him with Thanksgiving.  Let us sing him psalms of  praise.

  • Ecclesiastes 5:19-20 And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it.  To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life – that is indeed a gift from God.  People who do this rarely look with sorrow on the past, for God has given them reasons for joy.

  • Isaiah 55:12 You will live in joy and peace.  The mountains and hills will burst into song and the trees of the field will clap their hands!

  • Luke 15:10 There is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.

  • John 15:11 When you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow.

  • John 20:20 They were filled with joy when they saw their Lord.

  • Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

  • Galatians 5:22 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

  • Hebrews 12:2-3 Jesus was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be His afterward.  Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God’s throne in heaven.  Think about all He endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him so that you don’t become weary and give up.

  • James 1:24 Whenever trouble comes your way let it be an opportunity for joy.  For when your faith is tested your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.

  • Luke 2:10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring good news of great joy that will be for all people.”

  • Philemon 7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

  • 3 John 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth

  • Proverbs 10:28 The prospect of the righteous is joy but the hope of the wicked comes to nothing.

  • 1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him you love him and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the good of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

  • Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; morn with those who morn.

  • Isaiah 61:10 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.

  • 1 Corinthians 13:6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth.

  • Deuteronomy 16:15 For the Lord your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.

  • Nehemiah 8:11 Do not grieve for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

  • Psalm 43:4 Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight.

  • Psalm 66:1 Shout with joy to God, all the earth!

  • Psalm 119:111 Your statutes are my heritage forever, they are the joy of my heart.

  • Proverbs 12:20 There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil, but joy for those who promote peace.

  • Isaiah 35:10 and 51:11  The ransomed of the Lord will return.  They will enter Zion with singing, everlasting joy will crown their heads.  Goodness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
